Blogs and snippets from my first holiday without Elly in years
I’m on Texel (pronounced ‘tessel’), an island in the Netherlands. I’ve wanted to see this place since our holiday in Zaandam in 2016, where we got to the nearest bit of mainland and stared across the sea. Earlier this year I saw that there would be a democracy festival on this island, and that I wasn’t yet committed on the dates. A festival. On a Dutch island. About democracy. Chances for meeting people, doing a bit of cycling, yet not a long ‘mission’. Oh yes!
So we booked, only for Elly‘s work to cancel her leave because of a crisis. I’m in the Netherlands, doing the things I want to do, but without my wife. I hope some of this is interesting.
