It’s bleeding hot, looking for bodies. Nearly injured my pride. Crazed picnicking in the Styrian countryside
With apologies to PIL, but while it’s stinking hot, I have a cold and Elly isn’t feeling so good for other reasons.
Day 16: in Graz
We meandered into the Altstadt, looking for the city library, noting the twinning of the Jacomini area of Graz with Leith Walk until about a year ago. (Not that the job is finished!) We then perspired our way to foot of the Schlossberg, then took the very welcome lift to car the top. More perspiration, to find that the venue at the very top was playing a day of Harry Potter music. Bah! Oh well, the views made up for this.
Down in the lift again, then time for me to go back up to try the Rutsche. I dithered a lot at the start, but it was well worth it. Do it!

Day 17: around Graz again
We wanted a day without much walking, and had read of the Museum of Perception. It was well worth it, especially with the very friendly guide. This video shows the ‘woven’ pieces I rather liked.
After this, we hoped for a drink at the Murinsel but that cafe was closed, so we took a tram back to the hotel. Here are these ramblings according to cyclemeter, and here are some photos.

I then took a tram to see the ‘smart city‘.It appears to be an area that’s being regenerated for living and working, but it’s not very prepossessing – yet. (To be honest, not much of what I’ve seen in Graz is: it’s neither ‘cookoo-clock/alpine’ nor kaiserlicn/königlich, but 19th and 20th century ‘modern’.) . Here are my meanderings according to cycelmeter, and here are more photos.
