Bruce and Elly go round and round (days 12 and 13)

I guess I should make this post cover tomorrow but I’m feeling all contrary – and I have time and decent hotel just now. Also but tomorrow I will have forgotten everything I did yesterday. (This is one reason for cyclemetering – the machine can remind me where I’ve been.

Day 12: Innsbruck to Salzburg, wimbling around Salzburg

I think neither of us slept well the previous night, presumably because we knew we needed to be up relatively early to check out and get the train to Salzburg. Here is what cyclemeter made of that journey. In truth the train went through Wörgl, Kufstein, Rosenheim and a few other places in Germany before reentering the Muttiland.

Our hotel is hardly any distance from the station, but we were so please to get there and try to snooze for a bit. Then we went for a wonder in the Altstadt. So far, the feeling is that Salzburg is even more ‘imperial’ than Innsbruck. This is in part from the riches of the ‘white gold’ (salt) which led to the area being run by a prince-bishop. You can imagine what I think oof this combination of monarchy and spiritual power.

So here are our wimblings (although we didn’t go as far south as cyclemeter says we did), and here are some photos:

Day 13: more wimbling around Salzburg

After almost enough sleep, we decided to brave the lair of the prince-bishops, and then take a short river trip to try to stay out of the heat. Here is what cyclemeter captured.
